4th of July Celebration

was on the 1st of July this year!

For 2007 -- who knows -- maybe it will be on the 4th

Since Soap Lake citizens are very independent, they show their enthusiasm by attending a huge display of fireworks every 4th of July sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

Being so independent — sometimes we decide to celebrate on a different date (i.e., the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, etc.) if the 4th falls on an inconvenient day during the week :-)

Nobody minds because — hey — we put on a heck of a show!  We've even been known to put our surrounding hills on fire when shooting off the huge firecrackers.  So now, the local volunteer Fire Department is always part of the festivities.

The fireworks start at about 9 or 10 PM and lasts for approximately 40 minutes.

But most people show up early in the morning for the parade and spend all day at our beach parks.  They love the ongoing old-time events happening throughout the day.

A parade, salmon bake, free musicians jamming (battle of the bands), horseshoes, biking trips, runs, and more make up our 4th of July Celebration.  So come on over to Soap Lake and enjoy our fun-filled day.

But, you might want to call or email us first to find out the exact date of the festivities (huge grin here).  We have plenty of rooms available (See the business section for our hotels -- some are right on the lake) for those of you who want to experience "a better, more relaxed 4th of July celebration!"
